When Gill Tree the owner of Essentials for Health became lost in the African
jungle for five days on her own in 1989, she became fascinated by how the mind
works during survival and pressure situations. Gill devised our stress management
course titled “Performing under Pressure” and created an
interactive training programme and board game for the corporate world called
“It’s a jungle out there!” to challenge the participant and think beyond
their normal limitations. We teach how to thrive in the concrete jungle, based
on a very real experience of surviving the dangers of the African one. In 2002
we added our Work Life Balance course to the mix.
We’ve been providing our stress management at work courses since 1994. Since then the courses
have been regularly refined and updated with new research, methods of teaching
and experience. We play to our strengths and only provide courses we feel passionate
about.
Our vision
Our vision is to inspire people to transform their lives by being passionate,
dynamic, outstanding trainers, guiding our delegates through a fabulous magical
journey of discovery and learning.
Our recipe for success
We have learnt from disciplines such as NLP (neuro linguistic programming)
and combined this with research on stress and time management. We train using
accelerated learning techniques, mix some rich experience of surviving in
jungles, with unique, innovative exercises and provide the courses, adhering
to our core values of quality, service and excellence.
We provide:
A fresh approach to training in stress management
Results focused interventions and techniques that expand people’s capacity
to perform effectively under pressure and manage their work life balance
A platform in which to inspire people to want to change
Some notes on accelerated learning
Learning is a whole body and mind activity and includes ALL the senses and
emotions
People learn best when they are active and not sitting for long
People work and learn best in collaboration with others
The training is creative, imaginative, child like and fun.
A bit about having fun
A study by Cornell University found that people who had just viewed a funny
movie increased their "creative flexibility" and were better able
to find creative solutions to puzzling problems than those who had not seen
the film.
